Gods Presence
Psalms 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
When we are children we experience different upbringings, some good and some bad. Some folks who may have had bad experiences in life may transfer those feelings or past conflicts into their marriage, their children and yes, God. Many Christians transfer those experiences to how they relate to God and don’t even realize it.
If when in your life you went through…
Abandonment – You may feel that God is not there for you in times of trouble. Psalms 9:9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Low self esteem – You may feel that you are not worthy of Gods love. You may feel that God couldn’t possibly love you. Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, (5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Pain/Suffering – When you experience pain or suffering maybe you feel that God doesn’t care. John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Guilt – Maybe you feel guilty about something or haven’t forgiven someone and think God must not have completely forgiven you. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
In Hebrews 13:5 – …….I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Leave in the Greek means ‘let loose, or loosen’ and Forsake means to ‘leave behind or abandon.’ We are told in scriptures that God who loved mankind so much that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life. God cares more about our salvation than we do. God shows His love towards us in everything He does. We are told that He is always with us, the Holy Spirit who dwells in us is Gods spirit. He is always there even when we are unsure. What brings us closer to God?
We must remember that Gods love is unmeasurable. His love is greater than the love our parents, family or friends give us. We have to understand that Gods ways are not mans ways. He looks at our hearts and knows our minds. He understands our pain and fears. Our feelings and emotions change daily living in this world but God still remains with us, even when we are unsure. If you are a Christian struggling sometimes to feel Gods presence there are some simple steps to feel closer to Him.
1. Put God first – Remember to always allow God to lead your life. When ever you are trying to come to a decision in your life, go to God in prayer first.
2. Pray and praise – Some people only pray at night before they go to bed. Prayer is our communication to Him, and should be throughout your day, not just once a day. Praise Him and thank Him for waking you up in the morning, for getting you safely to the store, let God know that you love and see His blessings in your life.
3. Study on Gods Word – Read the Bible, this is a way to grow spiritually. God will speak to you through the scriptures. When you are lost and pray, you pick up the Word and many times God will show you the answers.
4. Live according to Gods Will – When we are living a life pleasing to God it brings us closer to Him. If Gods spirit dwells in you then we are to remember that the body is Gods temple. We are to let our light shine before men, if we continue to purposely sin, then we our not glorifying God. Sin, separates us from God.
5. Allow God to use you for His purpose – Tell God you are available to serve Him and ask God to place you where He wants you to be. Maybe God wants you to teach Sunday school, or visit the elderly or sick. Think about what gifts or talents God has given you and use that to serve Him.
Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
This is all very inspirational!
